799 Days of Access to Agricultural Loans

799 Days of Access to Agricultural Loans

In June, we helped provide 799 days of access to agricultural loans for female farmers in Zimbabwe through our partnership with B1G1— and the impact is deeply meaningful.

June Impact Update

This project, led by MicroLoan Foundation Australia, is all about breaking barriers for women in farming. In Zimbabwe, women do 70% of domestic farm work, yet they often face limited access to land, finance, and training — all while juggling caregiving responsibilities.

Why Agricultural Loans Matter

Globally, 60% of people facing food insecurity are women and girls (World Food Program). In Zimbabwe, female smallholders are less productive than their male counterparts — not because they work less, but because they lack access to the tools and resources that drive success.

That’s where these agricultural loans come in. Each loan helps a woman purchase quality seeds and fertilizer, boosting her productivity and enabling her to grow surplus crops. That surplus means food security for her family and income generation for her household.

Growing More Than Crops

These loans are more than financial support — they’re a launchpad for transformation. Paired with business and financial literacy training, each loan equips women to run their farms like thriving enterprises. It’s about turning potential into progress, and farming into a future.

This kind of impact is exactly what we’re aiming for in 2025.

After surpassing 20,000 impacts last year, we’ve set our sights on a bold new goal: 1 million meaningful impacts. No ticking clock — just a commitment to choosing projects that truly matter.

The Bigger Impact Starts Here

This project is changing lives — supporting 1,800 female farmers with access to agricultural loans of $160 each. With better seeds, fertilizer, and the right training, these women are not just growing crops — they’re growing confidence, stability, and opportunity.

Their farms are becoming sustainable businesses. Their families are gaining food security. And their communities are feeling the ripple effect.
