The Federal, NSW and VIC Governments announced a series of new measures to support individuals and businesses impacted by the lockdowns this week.

Here’s a brief snapshot:
Victorian Business Support
There’s been new and extended grants announced to support businesses impacted in Victoria, specifically:
Business Continuity Fund
$5k grants available to businesses impacted by capacity limits imposed. Eligibility based on Business Costs Assistance Program. The payments will be paid out automatically based on previous grant applications.CBD based business’s are expected to receive an additional $2K on top of this
Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021
Extended funding up to $20k and the payments will be automatic based on receiving or been eligible for the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021CBD based business’s are expected to receive an additional $2K on top of this
Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme and Landlord Hardship Fund
This is being reimplemented – more details to come
Small Business COVID Hardship Fund
New fund for those ineligible for other grants and funding. This grant is up to $5k where decline of turnover is 70% or more.
Alpine Business Support Program
Extended funding with additional grants between $5k and $20k.
NSW Business Support
Micro -business Grant
- Applications have opened for the NSW Micro-business grant. This grant is for small NSW businesses whose annual turnover is between $30k and $75k and have experienced a decline of 30% or more. Payments will be backdated to 26th June.
Covid-19 Business Grant & JobSaver
- The applications for the NSW JobSaver Payment started this week and has since been extended to businesses with a turnover up to $250m from $50m. The payments are equivalent to 40% of Weekly NSW Payroll for work performed in NSW and the cap has been increased from $10,000 up to $100,000 per week (from 18 July 2021).
- Businesses that have applied and are eligible for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Grant will generally be automatically eligible for JobSaver but must provide further information on employee headcount and payroll.
- Some businesses that are not eligible for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Grant can still be eligible for the JobSaver payment provided they meet the criteria.
- Businesses operating in New South Wales with their ABN registered outside New South Wales (i.e in Victoria) will be able to apply if they can provide evidence, such as rates notices or lease agreements, that their business was operating in New South Wales on 1 June 2021.
- New NSW businesses, such as those that were not operating for the full year to 30 June 2020, are to contact Service NSW to determine if an alternate comparison period, or alternative supporting evidence, can be applied. We are hoping more guidelines on alternative tests are provided by ServiceNSW over the next week.
- Construction businesses in NSW have finally been added to the highly impacted industry list!
Individual Support
COVID-19 Disaster Payment
- This was increased to $450 (between 8 and 20 hours lost) and $750 per week (20 hours or more lost) from 2 August 2021.
- The liquid assets test required that you needed to have liquid assets of less than $10,000. This now no longer applies from 11 July 2021.
